How to Build a RETRAX Compatible Bedside MOLLE Rack System for Your Ford Truck

If you've ever tried to add bedside MOLLE panels to a truck equipped with a RETRAX or similar retractable tonneau cover, you've probably discovered the problem immediately. The cover canister occupies the same space as the front MOLLE panel, making a traditional bedside rack setup difficult.

Until now.

With the introduction of our RETRAX Compatible MOLLE Panel Mount, Ford truck owners no longer have to choose between the security and convenience of a retractable tonneau cover and the utility of a bedside MOLLE rack system. By relocating the forward mounting point, this new bracket allows you to build a complete three-panel bedside organization system  with a front panel that does not interfere with the tonneau cover canister.

The process is simple, but because the system is modular, you'll need to add a few specific components to your cart. This guide will walk you through exactly what you need.

Step 1: Add the RETRAX Compatible MOLLE Panel Mounts

Start by navigating to the RETRAX Compatible MOLLE Panel Mount product page.

These brackets serve as the foundation of the system and create the forward mounting point needed to support your bedside panels behind the retractable cover canister.

You'll need:

Add 2 of these panels to your cart before moving on.

Step 2: Add the Correct Bridge Panels

Next, you'll need the appropriate Bridge Panels for your truck platform.

The Bridge Panel serves as the middle section of the bedside rack system and connects to the RETRAX mount up front and the rear bedside panel at the back.

  • 1x Passenger Side Bridge Panel

Ford Super Duty Owners

What Your Final Cart Should Include

For a complete RETRAX-compatible bedside rack system, you'll have six components total:

Driver Side

  • RETRAX Compatible MOLLE Panel Mount

  • Drivers Side Bridge Panel

  • Rear Drivers Side Bedside MOLLE Panel

Passenger Side

  • RETRAX Compatible MOLLE Panel Mount

  • Passengers Side Bridge Panel

  • Rear Passengers Side Bedside MOLLE Panel

Once installed, these components create a clean, functional bedside storage solution that works around the retractable cover canister while maximizing usable mounting space.

Why This System Works

Our standard bedside MOLLE panel systems consist of a front, bridge, and rear panel. The challenge with retractable tonneau covers is that the canister blocks both the mounting location and much of the usable panel area for the front panel.

The RETRAX Compatible MOLLE Panel Mount solves this problem by moving the forward mounting point behind the canister while still providing a rigid attachment location. Combined with the Bridge Panel and Rear MOLLE Panel, the result is a fully functional bedside rack system that integrates seamlessly with RETRAX and similar retractable covers.

The end result is the best of both worlds:

  • Secure, lockable bed coverage

  • Full bedside MOLLE organization

  • No drilling or permanent modifications

  • Factory-quality fit and finish

  • Made in the USA

If you've been waiting for a way to run a retractable tonneau cover and BuiltRight bedside MOLLE panels at the same time, this is it.
