Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept: The Ultimate Off-Road Pickup Might Be Back

Jeep is bringing back one of its most recognizable names with a modern twist. Meet the Wrangler Scrambler SRT, a V8-powered, desert-focused concept that blends classic Jeep heritage with a whole new approach to off-road performance.

Jeep enthusiasts have been asking for a modern Scrambler for years. Now, Jeep has given them something worth getting excited about.

Unveiled November 3, 2026, in Las Vegas, the new Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept takes inspiration from the original CJ-8 Scrambler, combining the open-air freedom of a Wrangler with the utility of a pickup and the performance of SRT.

And this isn't just another retro-inspired Jeep concept. It's a completely different take on what a high-performance off-road vehicle can be.Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept Debuts With A V8

A Modern Take on a Jeep Classic

The original CJ-8 Scrambler, produced from 1981 through 1986, developed a loyal following by combining traditional Jeep capability with a small pickup bed. The new Scrambler brings that formula into the modern era.

Built around a Wrangler foundation, the concept features two doors, longer bodywork, an integrated pickup bed, a redesigned tailgate, oversized fender flares and a structural roll cage.

Finished in eye-catching Punk'n orange, the truck also features a modern interpretation of Jeep's Sharknose front-end design, bronze beadlock wheels and an aggressive wide-body stance.

It's unmistakably a Jeep, but it looks like something designed to spend more time flying across the desert than crawling through a parking lot.See the Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept from All Angles

SRT Performance Meets Off-Road Capability

Perhaps the biggest surprise is what's underneath the Scrambler's hood.

Jeep confirms the concept features a HEMI V8 producing 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. That's serious power for a vehicle designed around high-speed off-road performance.

But the engine is only part of the story.

In a major departure from traditional Wrangler engineering, the Scrambler SRT features an all-new independent front suspension. Developed with off-road racing champion Casey Currie, the high-travel suspension is designed to improve steering precision, stability and wheel control when traveling at speed over uneven terrain.

Out back, a Trophy Truck-inspired rear axle rounds out the suspension package. Heavy-duty components, FOX remote-reservoir shocks and an aggressive wheel and tire package help reinforce the truck's desert-racing intentions.

This is a significant departure from the solid-axle formula that has defined the Wrangler for generations. Rather than focusing exclusively on slow-speed rock crawling, Jeep is exploring what happens when you build a Wrangler-based vehicle for speed.Jeep's New Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept Has A Feature No Wrangler Has Ever Had - Autoblog

Built for More Than Just Hauling Gear

The Scrambler isn't just about performance. Jeep has also put some thought into making the pickup configuration functional.

One of its more interesting features is a set of removable, 180-degree reversible rear seats. The seats can face forward for traditional passenger seating, rotate to face rearward, or be removed completely to open up additional cargo space.

The integrated pickup bed features a spray-in liner, making it more practical for hauling camping equipment, recovery gear and other adventure essentials.

Like the Wrangler, the concept maintains open-air capability, with removable doors and roof components.

It's an interesting combination of passenger versatility, pickup utility and off-road performance that gives the Scrambler an identity of its own.Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept Debuts With A V8

An Interesting Direction for the Jeep Aftermarket

For the aftermarket, a vehicle like the Wrangler Scrambler SRT presents some interesting possibilities.

The Jeep community has always embraced customization. From suspension systems and wheels to lighting, storage solutions and recovery equipment, owners have never been afraid to make their vehicles their own.

The Scrambler takes that enthusiasm in a new direction.

With its desert-focused suspension, pickup configuration and performance-oriented design, it creates opportunities for a different kind of Jeep build. Think integrated bed storage, MOLLE mounting solutions, accessory rails, recovery equipment and functional cargo organization that can handle everything from weekend camping trips to extended off-road adventures.

A vehicle designed to go fast off-road still needs a practical way to carry the equipment that makes those adventures possible.

That's where thoughtful aftermarket accessories make a difference.

Is the Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT Actually Coming?

For now, Jeep is officially calling the vehicle a concept. However, the Scrambler name is already part of Stellantis' future product plans, making this more than just another one-off Easter Jeep Safari build.

The production timeline, final specifications and availability have not been confirmed. The concept does, however, offer a pretty compelling look at the direction Jeep could take with a future Scrambler lineup.

If the production version stays anywhere close to what Jeep unveiled, the Scrambler could become one of the most interesting additions to the Jeep lineup in years.

The original CJ-8 Scrambler broke the mold by combining two different types of vehicles into one. More than 40 years later, Jeep appears ready to do it again.

One thing is certain: A 470-horsepower HEMI, independent front suspension and an open-air pickup configuration make for one interesting combination. We'd like to see where Jeep takes this one.
