Last weekend, Matt showed off a variety of products at Overland Expo East 2024, which is a large-scale trade show hosted in Arrington, Virginia, focused mainly on overlanders and adventurers alike. In particular, he presented our MOLLE Pouches, showing how they work in tandem with both our Bedside Racks and Seat Back MOLLE Panels. They provide ample space in and outside the vehicle, maximizing storage solutions, whether you’re out camping and packing supplies or simply mounting a fire extinguisher to your bedside. This extra storage can be invaluable to anyone, no matter how integrated you are with your truck.
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying (or Load-Bearing) Equipment, and is used in tandem with PALS, which is the Pouch Attachment Ladder System. They were both designed by the Department of Defense, and have been used by both the military and consumer goods since the start of the 21st century. The term “MOLLE Panel” is a bit of a misnomer, as Matt explains how MOLLE refers to the straps on the back of our pouches, and not the panel itself. It could be considered a "PALS Panel" even. He also says that while more than just MOLLE Pouches can be attached to our Bedside Racks, we stuck to the term "MOLLE Panel" for consistency's sake and to prevent confusion.
Beenen also showed off our patent-pending rigid mounted Seat Back MOLLE Kits. Rigid is the perfect term to describe them, because once they’re in, they’re not going anywhere. Using the same Block and Slot technology as the Bedside Racks, they allow for storage behind the driver and passenger seat. He explains how anything you can mount to a Bedside Rack can also be stored on a Seat Back MOLLE Panel, it all depends on your preference, application and what kind of configuration you need mounted in your vehicle.
You’ll notice Matt presented and teased a few new products on the horizon, including a sliding Bedside BAR with MOLLE Panels attached, offering super easy access to any accessories or items mounted further forward in the bed. He also mentions the potential for future roof mounted systems and discusses potentially mounting a Starlink unit on the inside of the truck for mobile internet. On top of that our new Traction Board Mounts that were just released and a prototype water jug holder that attaches to our Bedside Racks were exhibited in the Colorado. Keep an eye out for future updates!
At the end of the day, Matt is always excited to present our products, the reasoning behind them and see how creative people can get when using their BuiltRight gear! Watch the full MOLLE 101 presentation below.
