The Mountech story didn’t begin in a fancy boardroom or with a massive marketing budget. It started the way a lot of great ideas do - with frustration. Back in 2016, Matt Beenen, a mechanical engineer with a passion for solving real-world problems, was tinkering away in his Minnesota basement. He had just launched BuiltRight Industries, a company dedicated to building better truck organization systems, and as the product line expanded, so did the need for better mounting solutions inside the vehicle.
We had been using RAM Mounts at the time - well-known, widely available, and good enough for most people. But that’s the thing. "Good enough" doesn’t cut it when you care about the details. Our customers didn’t just want a mount that worked. They wanted one that looked like it belonged, that felt like it was worth the price of the truck it was bolted into. They wanted durability, adjustability, simplicity - and frankly, we did too.
By 2023, we’d had enough. We were tired of broken plastic arms, mounts that slipped under pressure, and devices that wobbled while you were trying to focus on the road or trail. We had years of experience designing and manufacturing vehicle-specific dash mounting platforms, and we knew we could do better. So we got to work.
That’s how Mountech was born.
From the very beginning, we approached Mountech differently. This wasn’t going to be a collection of cheap plastic widgets. We wanted something precise, durable, and beautiful. So we machined every component from billet 6061-T6 aluminum - the same stuff used in high-performance aerospace parts and motorsports gear. It’s strong, consistent, and holds tight tolerances, which meant our ball-and-socket joints could articulate smoothly and hold firm even when the road got rough.
Then came the finish. We anodized everything in our signature Storm Gray, a color chosen not because it was flashy, but because it quietly matched the quality of the design. And because we know every component, we used stainless steel for every fastener - no corrosion, no headaches, just hardware that stays locked in place for the long haul.
One of our favorite innovations is something we call Spinlok™. It’s a feature designed to keep your device from rotating, even when you're bouncing down a washboard trail or hauling down the freeway. Traditional mounts tend to twist or shift under load, especially over time. Spinlok puts an end to that. It’s one of those things you don’t think you need until you’ve used it - and then you can’t imagine going without it.
We didn’t stop there. One of the biggest complaints we heard from our community was about adjustability. A lot of mounting arms on the market require you to loosen two separate knobs or even disassemble the setup just to make a small adjustment. So we engineered a solution: a single thumb-screw arm that lets you position your device exactly where you want it, then lock it in place with one hand. Simple. Strong. Reliable.
Mountech components are not intended to compete with cheap plastic mounts, carbon fiber tubes glued together with way too many pieces nor the RAM Mounts lineup that it replaced in our store. We believe it's a unique solution for a specific group of folks who want the best. We don't need to sell 1,000 kits or even 100 for the effort to have been worth it. We are our own customers. We build the products that we want to use in our own trucks and we've finally got device holders that we're proud to install.
We're not just engineers. We’re drivers. We’re riders. We’re the kind of people who expect our gear to take a beating and keep working. That’s why we set out to build mounting systems that can be trusted across a range of environments - in the cab of a pickup, out on the trail, on a boat, or even in professional and tactical settings.
In the truck world, we started by designing dash-mounted phone holder kits for specific vehicles. Our systems integrate with factory mounting points, so there’s no need for suction cups, sticky pads, or vent clips. If you drive a Ford F-150, Ranger, Bronco, or Super Duty, we’ve got a mount for you. We didn’t stop with Ford though - we expanded to include Jeep, Toyota, GM, Ram, Rivian, and more.
Each of these kits is made to match the aesthetics of your vehicle's interior. That means you don’t end up with some awkward aftermarket accessory that looks like it came from a gas station. Instead, your phone holder becomes part of your truck - like it was supposed to be there all along.
We also know that vehicles aren't the only place where mounting matters. In 2024, we teamed up with the folks at Freedom Coast Cycling to launch something new: the Mountech Bike Fork Mount. This one was a passion project. Our team is full of cyclists, and we wanted a better way to secure his bike in the bed of our truck. The result was a sleek, CNC-machined fork mount that attaches to our accessory rails or MOLLE panels, accepting multiple thru-axle sizes and locking securely in place. Whenever you need to haul your bike, this mount gets it done.
From there, we’re expanding into marine-grade mounts and defense-grade components, too. Anywhere devices need to stay put, we’re showing up with hardware that won’t let you down.
When we say “built for life,” we mean it. Every Mountech product comes with our Buy It For Life Guarantee. If it fails under normal use, we’ll replace it. No questions, no fine print, just support you can count on.
This isn't just marketing fluff. It’s a reflection of how we build things. We inspect every piece by hand. We back our work with real people who answer real phones and emails. And we never cut corners - not in the design, not in the materials, not in the service.
Mountech is growing fast, and we’re just getting started. We’ve got new mounts in the works for upcoming vehicles, more accessory solutions on the way, and fresh ideas flowing from both our engineering bench and the customer conversations we have every day.
We’re not trying to be the biggest mount company out there. We’re just trying to be the best. To make hardware that makes sense. To solve the problems that actually matter. To build gear that people can trust every single day.
Whether you’re outfitting a new work truck, getting your rig trail-ready, kitting out a response vehicle, or just want to keep your phone where you can actually see it, we’ve got your back. That’s who we are. That’s why we build. That’s Mountech.
