Introducing the BuiltRight Industries Bedside Rack System for the 2009 to 2019 classic RAM truck. Two variations, one for the 5’7” bed and one for the 6’4” bed, are currently available and the installation of each panel involves installing 4 rivet nuts in the bedside of your truck. These large panels provide a large flat mounting surface, perfect for a variety of clamps, mounts and just about any attachment that you can dream up. Use these MOLLE panels to secure your most important items out of the way but ready for use.
Fits: 2009 - 2019 RAM Trucks with a 4th gen bed. These beds DO NOT have a series of hexagon shaped holes for the factory utility rail kit.
* Fitment Note: At this time, we cannot confirm fitment compatibility with all drop-in bedliner systems, as the various manufacturers take different approaches that are difficult to account for. The same applies to some hard cover tonneau covers with clamps that can't be repositioned. Some customization may be required in those cases.
Engineering & Manufacturing
In the 4th Gen (09-19 classic) RAM lineup, the inner bedsides of the truck offer no threaded mounting points for accessories. After much experimentation, we found that the correct solution to this is for users to install rivet nuts using the included drill templates. This design uses 4 rivet nuts per panel, for a total of 8 to install a full side kit. The BuiltRight Bedside Rack System then installs securely using these mounting points. The panels provide MOLLE-compatible features for the use of MOLLE/PALS accessories in addition to universal slots for an infinite number of possibilities.
– Store items that need to be easily accessible and organized
– Keep tools, straps, shackles, etc from rolling around in the bed of your truck
– Easily configured depending on intended use
– Patented U.S. Patent No. 10,933,796 B2, additional patents pending
Installation was straight forward and the panels are very well built. I'm extremely happy with they way they mounted and the way they look. A few recommendations: If you can mount your accessories (quick fist, etc) before you make the final install on the bed it will make your life easier. The nuts can be a challenge to get back there once its installed. If you have the factory 5th wheel plug on the left side of your bed... it will cover it up and make it unusable without modifying the rack. I have the Softopper installed and the rack interfered with the forward most hold down bracket on the topper. Added a piece of Trex to the underside of the top rail of the bed and a longer bolt in the topper bracket and it works great. Attached are some pictures. Overall, it's great and I will be ordering another one for the other side. Thanks Builtright!!
Just installed it, the install wasn't too bad there are a couple of changes that I would do to make the install a little easier. I would glue or tack weld the little spacers to the backside of the mounting brackets and I would make the bed light switch more accessible by opening up the rack a little in that area. It is a little light trying to get your finger in there to turn the lights on or off. I realize this is the prototype and really like the unlimited options I now have with the rack system. Overall a great product. One other thing i do wish that these were more universal in the mounting locations meaning I wish that I could have used the front rack in the spot on the rear back location. I see myself using 2 back racks more than a rack in the front. (having the bed led lights precluded me from using the front rack in the place of the the rear rack, the rack wasn't cut out to accept the led light)
