Engineering & Manufacturing
In the 5th generation 2019 - 2021 RAM lineup, each truck bed is equipped with a series of small holes in the bedside, meant to support an OEM/Mopar Utility Rail System. Used along with the holes near the tie down loops at the front and rear, the 5th gen RAM is very well equipped to support a full length MOLLE panel system. The BuiltRight Modular Bedside Rack System installs using these factory mounting points and doesn't prevent the use of the Mopar Utility Rail. The panels provide MOLLE-compatible features for the use of MOLLE/PALS accessories in addition to universal slots for an infinite number of possibilities.
The RAM panels can be used as a 4pc kit, of course, but the rear panels and front panels can also be used on their own. This allows users to setup their truck as needed and add to their system if their gear mounting needs change.
– Store items that need to be easily accessible and organized
– Keep tools, straps, shackles, etc from rolling around in the bed of your truck
– Easily configured depending on intended use
– Made in USA. Lifetime Warranty.
Installation involves installing eight (8) rivet nuts in the holes that are already in the bedside of the truck. This process is very easy and the kit includes a tool to assist, but more sophisticated tools are also available online for around $60. From there, the panels simply bolt into those locations using the included hardware.
Application: 2021 Ram Rebel Crew Cab 4x4 with 5.7’ Bed, Bedrug Classic Bedliner (over bare metal) RetraxPRO MX Retractable Tonneau Cover, Factory Mopar Cargo Bed Utility Rails and Factory Mopar Cargo Bed Lights Installation: I found that the installation of this molle panel system was extremely simple. Everything lined up perfectly to the factory cargo bed utility rail mounting points. That being said, I did not need to use the rivnut hardware Builtright included because my truck was already configured with them installed. I installed using a layered approach- with the Bedrug bedliner in place, I installed the molle panels and then the cargo rails before securing with the factory cargo rail screws. Everything was a very tight fit, and a balancing act to ensure I could get the holes lined up thru the Bedrug to thread the screws in. These panels can get heavy when you are trying to hold them in place for install, but I think that speaks to the durability of the materials used. I ended up removing the cargo rails altogether because they were limiting the available space for mounting equipment and the height of Milwaukee Packout boxes I wanted to use required the full panel. I needed to buy custom mounting brackets to get the Milwaukee Packout system to attach/detach as designed because the Milwaukee wall mount panel wouldn’t fit with the wheel well. Fortunately, I ran across some superb machined billet aluminum mounts by “UnbeatenPathDesigns” on Etsy. I used Builtright Molle Nuts (amazing quality and design) and as luck would have it, the pre-drilled holes on the aluminum Milwaukee mounts LINED UP PERFECTLY. I did have to bore the holes a tiny bit to match the 1/4 x 20 hardware Builtright uses for their Molle Nuts, but that was a simple task with a 1/4 drill bit and a vise. With countersunk screws, I was able to securely attach the custom Milwaukee brackets to the molle panels. The result is absolutely incredible. My truck bed is OCD organized with the “essentials” and then some. I can reach over the edge of the bed and quick release any Packout box on the go. I still have plenty of space for more equipment, but the “stacking” ability of the Milwaukee Packout system really consolidated everything I had wanted to carry. I highly recommend this system to anyone who wants to efficiently organize their truck with flare. **I know that this is supposed to be a review of Builtright products, but I had to include the wonderful result of the culmination between them, UnbeatenPathDesigns, and the Milwaukee Packout System**
