Overland Expo SoCal is in the books and all we can say is WOW.
We headed to the Orange County Fairgrounds friday to get set up. I cant say that I love setting up in 50* temps with rain, but Jerid and I got the booth all ready and organized for the show the following day. I dont think either of us expected the attendance to be as high as it was, but MAN was the place packed! We had a handful of items for sale and a table of swag, including stickers, patches, plate frames, and our leftover King of the Hammers neck gaters, and we had a hard time keeping them on the table! (partially because of some wind gusts, but mostly because of the traffic through the booth!) We will definitely be bringing more product and swag next year!
Throughout the day Jerid and I showed off some BuiltRight gear to newcomers and existing customers, educating them on the quality, uses, and flexibility of our systems. We had many requests for new fitments, and many testimonials from customers who have been running our products for a while. One of the big reasons we go to these events, is to engage with the community on a more personal level. We can learn about their builds, how they are using their gear, and glean insights on how we might be able to make the product better based on real world experiences. Plus, who doesnt love to talk about their builds?
On that note, earlier this year our Customer Service Manager, Matt Homes, volunteered to drive the raptor across the country (literally, the whole thing, from Connecticut to Orange County, CA) so that attendees could see our raptor build in real life, after having it out at King of the Hammers. people absolutely loved it! And surprisingly enough, it was one of just a handful of raptors at the show, so it got a lot of love.
Over both days I was able to pop out of the booth for a couple quick runs around the show, because our booth was so busy I just didnt want to leave! The show was awesome from what I saw, with an unbeliveable amount of vendors showing up for this first year event, really setting the groundwork for this to grow over the years.
(I love big overland rigs, it gives me Dakar vibes!)
All in all, we both loved being at this event, and getting to chat with all of you that showed up and swung by. Let us know what you thought of the show, we'd love to hear your experience!
You can plan on seeing us back next year, so mark your calendars!
