I went through 4 or 5 Amazon antennas claiming they were a good match. None of them matched up to the base like this one. With other antennas, they worked just fine, but the base didn't match and left access for moisture to find your threads. This one is lines up perfectly and seals off the threads. I added a little dielectric grease to my threads as a failsafe. The build is high quality, and I actually feel like I am holding a $29 antenna. I don't use touch carwashes, so I cannot speak to how it fares. I suspect its low profile enough, you should have no issue, as this antenna is rigid and does not flex. If you're concerned, its screws on/off in a jiffy. I do not notice any signal difference on FM tuner, and slightly less reception on AM tuner.
