QUIT YER YELLIN' , WE HEAR YA!
This week, We have been tinkering with a new prototype we’re really excited about—our Bedside Molle Racks, kind of.... If you’ve been following along, you already know we’ve had our Bedside MOLLE panels on the market for a while. We’ve also recently introduced the bedside rail kit for F-150 and F-250 trucks. Now, we’re layering in another piece of the puzzle for ultimate truck-bed organization.
Watch the development on YouTube!
We recently installed a DECKED drawer system on our 2021 F-150 since we know they're very popular, and it got us thinking: how can we adapt our Tech Plate design so that it works perfectly with that setup? I know plenty of truck owners have also been asking for something like this, so Matt decided to whip up a fresh design and test it out.
Once Matt hammered out a quick CAD model of his vision, he got our laser cutter going in the shop. You might have caught a glimpse of those fiery sparks as we cut through aluminum stock. Yes, I said aluminum.
Up until now, our Bedside and Universal MOLLE panels have primarily been steel. That’s great for heavy-duty use, but as we experimented with smaller panels, we realized that aluminum is plenty sturdy for the job. It’s also lightweight and more corrosion-resistant—a total win. When you’re dealing with smaller panels (especially in a truck bed setup), aluminum is definitely a strong contender.
Once cut and deburred, Matt bolted up the new Tech Plate in the F-150 on top of our new Bedside Rail kit. The fit is pretty much perfect. It sits at about the same level as the bed rail lip, giving just enough space for tonneau cover clamps and other hardware.
The idea is to keep the space above the DECKED system organized, especially when a DECKED system takes up a good chunk of the bed.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be testing them in different configurations and maybe even rolling out additional sizes. After seeing how well aluminum performs in this application, we’re also considering switching some of our other smaller Tech Plates to the aluminum.
As always, keep sharing your thoughts and letting us know how we can help you level up your truck-bed organization. We’ve got plenty more experiments and prototypes on the horizon, so stay tuned!
